Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Gully Boy’ has struck the right chords owing to its powerful dialogues and the raw acting prowess of the lead pair. Gully Boy first weekend collection stands at Rs. 72.45 crore
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the box office collection of the movie. He wrote, “#GullyBoy has excellent *extended* weekend… Will cross ₹ 75 cr today [Mon]… Metros are exceptional… Mumbai circuit is terrific… Tier-2 cities pick up… Metros to trend strongly on weekdays… Thu 19.40 cr, Fri 13.10 cr, Sat 18.65 cr, Sun 21.30 cr. ‘Gully Boy’ earned Rs. 19.40 crore on Thursday but the collections saw a slight dip on Friday with the film minting Rs. 13.10 crore. The film made Rs. 18.65 on Saturday and continued to rule the ticket windows on Sunday, earning Rs. 21.30 crore, taking its total collection to Rs. 72.45 crore.
The film is doing exceptionally well in metro cities, especially Mumbai.
‘Gully Boy’ opened to great reviews from both film critics and audiences. It first premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. Many of the international publications gave the film a good review.
Even Hollywood actor Will Smith became a fan of Ranveer and shared a video on his Instagram account, praising Ranveer’s rapping skills.
‘Gully Boy’ is inspired by the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy. The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar and released on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
The film revolves around the underground rap movement in India and all the songs of the film have become extremely popular.
Apart from this, Ranveer and Alia will also be seen in Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial ‘Takht’. The period drama also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in pivotal roles.
